Your Excellency,
In my Note No. 96 of the 8th July I had the
honour to furnish to His Excellency General Ugaki certain details in connexion with alleged piracy and murder on a
Hong Kong fishing junk by Japanese ssilore in the vicinity
of the Ladrones Islands on the 3rd May 1938, and I further informed His Excellency that I would in due course present
claim in respe t of the damages to Eritish lives anî
property resulting from that attack.

I have now the honour to present to Your
Excellency a statement of this claim, which amounts in
all to Hong Kong # 11,872,50, and I shall be grateful if
the Japanese Government will be so good aa to give the
claim their early and favourable consideration.
I avail ayself of this concrtunity to renew to
